The analysis of antiallergic (antihistamines) medicines administration in Petrozavodsk city

Antihistamine drugs are widely used all over the world in our days. They have a difference in their chemical structure, but are connected by structural similarities with histamine. Antihistamine drugs competitively connect and block H1-histamine receptors which are situated in smooth muscles of the bronchi, arterioles, digestive system and other organs.

In accordance with the classification antihistamine drugs are divided into three generations: the first, the second, and the third generation. All the generations are different in their influence on the receptors and can cause various effects on the organism. For example, the antihistamine drugs of the 1st generation are not selective, and can block other receptors too. Moreover, this generation has cardiotoxic effect. The most famous medicines of the 1st generation are called: Suprastin, Tavegil and Diazolin; of the second: Claritin, Cetrin, Peritol; and the antihistamine drugs of the third generation are called: Telfast, Loratadin and Suprastineks.

The aim of the research work was to determine: the most administered generation of antihistamine drug, the main season of administration, the main forms and kinds of antihistamine drugs, which are administered; the 5 most effective drugs by the doctors opinion.

The method of the research work was social survey with questionnaring. It was on the questionnaire: the main administered generation of antihistamine drugs, season of administration this type of drugs, the main forms of administered antihistamine drugs, the symptoms for the administration antihistamine drugs and others.

For analysis were admitted 86 questionnaires. The main specialties of the research work were: therapy and pediatry. The results of the survey showed, that the 2d generation was the most administered generation (48%). The main season of administration antihistamine drugs was spring (46%). In studying the question about the most administered forms of antihistamine drugs it was noted, that on the first place are tablets and capsules (52%), on the second place were injections (21%) It was also noted, that generic drugs were administered more often than original drugs (58%). The 5 most effective antihistamine drugs of the doctor's opinion were: Suprastin (48,8%), Zirtec (50%), Claritin (47,7%), Loratadin (62,8%) and Cetrin (34,9%).

Summarizing, antihistamine drugs are widely used all over the world in our days. The most administered generation of antihistamine drugs is the 2d. More often doctors administer generic drugs in capsules. The main season for administration the 5 most effective antihistamine drugs: Suprastin, Zirtec, Claritin, Loratadin and Cetrin is spring.
